STORIE DELLA NATURA

At the end of the 80s I started writing and drawing a series of strips on the animal world and nature with the aim of making people aware of respect for the environment and animals. The “Stories of Nature” were born, divided by four main characters into four independent series.
Alla fine degli anni ’80 iniziai a scrivere e a disegnare una serie di strips sul mondo Animale e sulla Natura con l’intento di sensibilizzare le persone sul rispetto dell’ambiente e degli Animali. Nacquero le “Storie della Natura” suddivise da quattro personaggi principali in quattro serie indipendenti.
ALFRED THE FLEA is the main character of the strips set in the microworld of insects. Actually the Stories of Nature are the evolution of a first series of strips on insects that I had written and sketched in the early ’80s entitled: The mounstous
ALFRED LA PULCE è il personaggio principale delle strips ambientate nel micromondo degli insetti. In realtà le Storie della Natura sono l’evoluzione di una prima serie di strips sugli insetti che avevo scritto e abbozzato agli inizi degli anni ’80 dal titolo: I Mostruosi.
JOHNNY THE POPLAR and the magical forest.
And here is Johnny, the representative of the plant kingdom who was inspired by the poplar woods on the banks of the river Po, next to my hometown in Italy. Johnny the Poplar was the first character I developed to get to create Stories of Nature. It all began one day when I was in Bonvi’s studio, a great author of the 60s and 90s. In 1994 I was collaborating with Bonvi writing screenplays for the new stories by Nick Carter that Alfredo Boschini, my collaborator on the Stories of Nature, was supposed to draw. That day I presented some tables to Bonvi who proposed me to adapt the stories to be published in Detective Carter’s masthead as secondary stories entitled: The mysteries of nature. And it was with the first table of Johnny the Poplar that I presented myself on the Roxy Bar show on Videomusic in 1994.

Ed ecco Johnny, il rappresentante del regno vegetale che mi venne ispirato dai boschi di pioppi in riva al fiume Po, di fianco al mio paese d’origine in Italia. Johnny il Pioppo fu il primo personaggio che sviluppai per arrivare a creare le Storie della Natura. Tutto ebbe inizio un giorno che mi trovavo nello studio di Bonvi un grandissimo autore degli anni ’60-’90. Nel 1994 stavo collaborando con Bonvi scrivendo sceneggiature delle nuove storie di Nick Carter che avrebbe dovuto disegnare Alfredo Boschini, il mio collaboratore alle Storie della Natura. Quel giorno presentai alcune tavole a Bonvi che mi propose di adattare le storie per essere pubblicate sulla testata del detective Carter come storie secondarie dal titolo: I misteri della natura. E fu proprio con la prima tavola di Johnny il Pioppo che mi presentai alla trasmissione Roxy Bar su Videomusic nel 1994.
WALTER THE SHARK.
In the vast oceans the great white shark, accompanied by an unusual pilot Jellyfish, tells the stories of the beings of the abyss and of a wonderful world threatened by the recklessness of the human being. Walter the shark was born in 1995, on the island of Phi-Phi where I stayed for a month during a trip through Thailand. Right now, as I write this article, I’m back in Thailand where I’ve been stopping for a few months over the last four years and I smile thinking that 27 years have gone by.
WALTER LO SQUALO.
Nei vasti oceani il grande squalo bianco, accompagnato da un insolita Medusa pilota, racconta le storie degli esseri degli abissi e di un meraviglioso mondo minacciato dalla sconsideratezza dell’essere umano. Walter lo squalo è nato nel 1995, sull’isola di Phi-Phi dove sono rimasto un mese durante un viaggio attraverso la Thailandia. In questo momento, mentre scrivo questo articolo mi trovo di nuovo in Thailandia dove ormai mi fermo per qualche mese negli ultimi quattro anni e sorrido pensando che sono passati 27 anni.

Nato in Thailandia mentre scrivevo le prime strips di Walter lo squalo, Roby è il protagonista del mondo animale nelle foreste.
The End and the Beginning of a new story
Unfortunately, the series of Stories of Nature was not published nationally and remained linked in my mind to a tragic event. After the television presentation of my comic Bonvi had a fatal accident and a legend of the 70s disappeared, a genius with whom I was lucky enough to share moments of creativity. I didn’t find any publisher to publish my stories and in any case, with the diffusion of cartoons and Manga comics everything was changing and I no longer wanted to chase the possibility of spreading my art at those levels. I found other alternatives, I published the Stories of Nature in various newspapers and magazines, I dedicated myself to creating murals, logos, graphics and magazines. Alfredo Boschini, alias Boscho collaborated with his ink and lettering on all the stories, continued his career with great satisfaction and now draws Alan Ford, a famous Italian comic. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on other comics, but I’m a creative artist, I don’t want to draw other people’s stories, I want to create them.

La Fine e l’Inizio di una nuova storia
La serie delle Storie della Natura purtroppo non venne pubblicata a livello nazionale e rimase legata nella mia mente ad un tragico evento. Dopo la presentazione televisiva del mio fumetto Bonvi ebbe un incidente fatale e scomparve un mito degli anni ’70, un genio con il quale ebbi la fortuna di condividere momenti di creatività. Non trovai nessun editore per pubblicare le mie storie e comunque, con la diffusione dei cartoon e fumetti Manga tutto stava cambiando e io non avevo più voglia di rincorrere la possibilità di diffondere la mia arte a quei livelli. Trovai altre alternative, pubblicai le Storie della Natura su diversi quotidiani e riviste, mi dedicai a creare murales, loghi, grafiche e riviste. Alfredo Boschini, allias Boscho ha collaborato con le sue chine e lettering a tutte le storie, ha continuato la sua carriera con grande soddisfazione e ora disegna Alan Ford, un famoso fumetto italiano. Io ho avuto l’occasione di collaborare alla realizzazione di altri fumetti, ma io sono un artista creativo, non desidero disegnare le storie di altri, desidero crearle.
